DEATH TAKES IRA PAULUS ISON
"It is with deep regret that we report the death of a charter memberof the Association, Ira Paulus Ison, who passed away on August 7,1986, at his home at Stephens, Kentucky. He was born on December 13,1885, in Elliott County Kentucky, and was a son of Andrew Jackson andHannah (Creech) Ison. He was a retired school teacher and farmer.His wife, Nancy, preceeded hinm in death.
"Mr. Ison is survived by five daughters, Vesta White, Jackson, Ohio;Pauline Bentley and Claudia Mitchell, both of Columbus, Ohio; LoreneRiggs, Zanesville, Ohio; and Madeline Johnson, Stephens; two sons:Wendell Ison, Columbus, Ohio, and Milo Ison, Stephens. Four sons:Glen Ison, Waldo Ison, Quenton Ison, and Berdine Ison preceded him indeath.
"Ira Ison was a most capable amateur genealogist and local historian.When the Sparks Family Association was founded in 1953, he was theauthority to whom we turned to unravel the tangled relationships ofall of the Sparkses who had come from North Carolina to north-easternKentucky about 1821. He will be remembered for his keen memory andgenealogical knowldege. We extend our sympathy to his family."

"Nelson Ison, son of Ira and Sina (Sparks) Ison, was born about 1838.He was probably named for his mother's brother, Nelson Sparks. He was21 years old when he was enumerated with his parents when the 1860census was taken of Morgan County, Kentucky. We have found no otherrecord of him."
1. Sarah Ison, daughter of Ira and Sina (Sparks) Ison, was bornabout 1835 in Lawrence County, and it was there that she was marriedto Braxston W. Adldns about 1854. He had been born about 1834 and wasa son of Howard Adldns. Brack and Sarah lived on the Right Fork ofNewcombe Creek where they reared seven children. Sparks in 1903 in Lawrence County. She had been born on Octob er 7,
1879, and was a daughter of Reuben D. and Mary (Curnutte) Spar ks;thus
she was a sister of Morton E. Sparks. She died on February 21 , 1958,
and Alonzo died in April 1969. They had two children, Noel an dLionel.
d. William Lyon; he was married to Mary Daniel.

In May, 1761 a citation was issued against Henry Spalding to sho wcause
why he concealed effects belonging to the estate of Ann Spalding. The
citation was requested by his brother and executor, John Baptist Spalding.
