!NOTES:
The genealogy notes of Jason Duncon, a student at the Univ. of Nor th
Carolina which were downloaded on the internet in April, 1997, indicate that
the wife of Richard Bauguess was Nancy Jane McCarthy. "Richard Bauguess,
Sr. is said to be an Englishman who settled in Loudon Co., VA, befor ethe
Revolutionary War. He moved to Wilkes County, North Carolina, in th elate
1780s. He was married twice. First to Nancy Jane McCarthy of Ireland and
second to Keziah Rose, having a total of twenty-two children. Nanc yMcCarthy
was one of the first to be buried in Old Roaring River Baptist Churc hCemetery.
Richard "may be buried in a family graveyard on the old Osborne Bauguess
farm near Traphill. His will was dated May 27, 1809 "and was probated April
1822. The will is where Keziah Rose is mentioned so Nancy probably died before
1809. His grandson claimed that Richard lived to be over 100 years old.
Richard probably left England, passed through Ireland and marrie d his
first wife Nancy.
The Sparks Quarterly states specifically on page 3263 that the mot herof
Henry Bauguess was Keziah Rose.
The genealogy of Jason Duncan is set forth with some particularit y inthe
notes relating to his 3rd great grandfather, James Madison Bauguess,Sr. (4001).
